Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

When

April 8, 2024. 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Don't miss the solar eclipse on April 8!

You won't be able to view another solar eclipse from the contiguous United States until 2044, so take advantage of this year's solar eclipse watch party at Cullers Overlook. During this eclipse, the sun will be almost 90% covered by the moon.

The party will kick off at 2:00 pm with a craft table and a hands-on presentation from a local astronomer. The eclipse will peak around 3:15 pm. Stay for the entire program or come and go as you please.

Eclipse glasses can be purchased from the Visitor Center while supplies last. Eclipse glasses from the 2017 eclipse will NOT be allowed, as the film only has a three-year shelf span. We do not want to put our guests' vision at risk.

Please bring a folding chair or lawn blanket. The closest restrooms are located in the visitor center.

This event is free, but standard parking fees apply.
