Paddling a kayak gives you a new perspective on the world and a lifetime of adventures. This eight-hour class will cover the basics of paddling skills including, how to select and fit a personal flotation device (PFD), different types of kayaks, planning and safety, and proper paddling strokes. Participants will also practice in-water rescues, so be prepared to get fully wet. Everyone should bring lunch, snacks, plenty of water, sunscreen, and a change of clothing. Please wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes that you don't mind getting wet/muddy. We will provide all paddles, PFDs, and boats. The age requirement is 10 years old and up. Space is limited to 10 participants, so please contact the park office to register for this program. A $15 per participant fee is due August 12th to secure your registration. payment can be made at the park's visitor center.
