Hourly Rate: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
This position involves assisting in the development, planning, marketing and implementation of interpretive programs and activities that focus on the natural and cultural resources at Staunton River State Park. Programming will include guided hikes, children’s programs, wildlife programs, water-based programs, off-site outreach and other environmental education and ecology programs. When not conducting programs, candidate will assist with maintaining and upkeep of off-site fliers and information, interpretive supplies, equipment, kiosks. Position will assist other park staff with merchandise sales initiatives. Candidate may be required to perform park related duties as needed during emergencies, as well as other duties as assigned. This is a 1500-hour wage position.
We provide on-the-job training. The Education Support Specialist may be required to perform other park-related duties during emergencies or on a nonrecurring basis. Position requires shift work, including weekends and holidays. The individual is required to currently possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Virginia driver's license. This position can be an outstanding first step toward a lasting career with the park service!
