Job Duties:
Provides meaningful educational opportunities and experiences for park guests by interpreting the significance of the park's natural/historical/and cultural resources. The Interpretive Assistant Ranger is responsible for the daily conducting of interpretive programs and educational outreach, including corresponding with the general public, schools, scout groups, etc. about programming. The position is responsible for maintaining the Discovery Room and is responsible for the daily care and health of all exhibit animals, including maintaining daily logs. Interpretive Assistant Ranger assists with the development if the interpretive program schedule and planning special events.
Other duties include maintaining all interpretive resources and ensuring they are in good working order, creating new programs, assisting park visitors using good customer service techniques, keeping accurate records, and assisting with other duties as assigned.

This position requires the ability to perform manual labor throughout the workday, the ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 20lbs from the ground to waist level.
Must possess a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation. Must be willing to work rotating shifts, evens, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions. There are no health benefits or paid vacation leave associated with this job. Employees are limited to working no more than 1500 hours in 12 months from May 1 to April 30.
A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
