Generally applications must be made through the RMS (electronic state application). We will, however, accept paper applications for some state park slots. Be sure to refer to the individual recruitment for specific requirements.
Certain positions require a criminal background check, a conflict of interest financial statement or both. Law-enforcement positions require a fingerprint-based FBI investigation. DCR is an EEO/AA/ADA Employer.

Hiring Rate: $12.85 per hour
*Boater Safety Certification Required*
Outgoing and responsible individuals needed to assist visitors with boat rentals, merchandise sales, and other duties. Primary duties include providing the first point of contact for visitors in the Fairy Stone Mercantile, providing information regarding park services, amenities, and other local attractions, renting boats, cleaning and organizing equipment, cash register operation, stocking merchandise, and customer service. Boat House Attendants will be required to inform visitors of park rules and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications: Applicant must be 15 years old, be able to count money and do simple math, be willing to work outside in all types of weather, be willing to assist guests on and off of rental equipment, and possess a valid boater safety certification. The free online certification course can be taken at https://boatus.org/virginia/. All Boathouse Rangers will be required to complete this training before the first day of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior cash register or boat livery experience preferred.
Special Requirements:
A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
