Job Duties:
The Seasonal Camp Counselor Interpreters provide meaningful interpretive and educational opportunities and experiences for registered participants through the daily operation of First Landing’s week-long Junior Ranger Summer Camp. Camp sessions will be divided into morning and afternoon groups which run Monday through Friday and alternate weekly between ages 4-6 and 7-12. Camp Counselors will be responsible for interpreting the significance of the park’s natural, historical, and cultural resources by planning and implementing programs such as guided hikes, hands-on crafts/activities/games, and lessons/workshops on relevant environmental and historical topics. Summer Camp Interpreters are also responsible for decorating and maintaining the Trail Center Conference Room (home of the camp) and upkeep of interpretive equipment used for camp activities. Camp Counselors will be responsible for campers during their time at the park including drop off and pick up.

Park Interpreters may be required to perform other park-related duties during emergencies or as needed. This position requires shift work up to 40 hours per week. Must be at least 18 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and have reliable transportation to the job. No benefits are associated with wage positions which are limited to, but not guaranteed, 1500 hours of work per year between May 1st and April 30th the following year.
A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
