Hourly Rate: $15.00 per hour
Lake Anna State Park is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Interpretive Assistant. This individual will assist with developing, planning, marketing, and presenting interpretive programs and activities that focus on the natural, cultural, and historic resources for park guests, local groups, and public schools. Duties include providing support related to the development of programs and the related promotional materials, and monitoring and updating the park events and Interpretive Program Tracker databases. The successful incumbent will be able to balance multiple tasks when given specific goals and objectives.
When not conducting programs, the Interpretive Assistant will assist with the upkeep of the Visitor Center and maintain all interpretive exhibits, equipment, park owned Geocaches, and kiosks. The Interpretive Assistant may be required to perform park-related duties as needed during emergencies, as well as other duties as assigned.
This position offers opportunities such as working with and learning from the Chief Ranger-Visitor Experience, who has 19 years of Virginia State Parks experience; gaining valuable experience working with live education animals; and receiving various trainings such as First Aid/CPR, flatwater canoe/kayak, and marketing and media. This position may also gain experience supervising AmeriCorps members and seasonal staff.

Position is expected to work weekends and holidays with some evening shifts. A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
