Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

4 & 12 Hour Adventure Races

12 Hour Race Description

The REV3Endurance DMV Adventure Race is an annual race in the heart of the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. In 2024 we will explore the beautiful Potomac River on April 6th, 2024. Racers will connect multiple areas along the Potomac by paddle and explore these scenic waterfronts by mountain bike, trek, and canoe/kayak. Racers while attempting to locate as many as checkpoints as possible before time expires! Canoes and Kayaks are provided by REV3 Endurance.

4 Hour Race Description

The REV3Endurance DMV Adventure Race is an annual race in the heart of the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area. In 2024 we will explore the beautiful Potomac River on April 6th, 2024. Racers will explore multiple waterfront areas by mountain bike, trek, and paddle while attempting to locate as many as checkpoints as possible before time expires!

12 Hour Race Estimated Distance

Total distance for the race is 70+ miles dependent upon route selections. 8 miles of paddling, 35 miles of mountain biking, and 13-21 miles of trekking. Biking will be varied across trail systems, road, and gravel.

12 Hour Registration Fees

Soloist 12 Hour

· $210.00 for soloists until registration closes at midnight February 4th, 2024

· $235.00 for soloists until registration closes at midnight March 24th, 2024

Teams 12 Hour (2, 3 & 4 Person Team Options Available)

· $200.00 for per person until registration closes at midnight February 4th, 2024

· $225.00 for per person until registration closes at midnight March 24th, 2024

4 Hour Race Estimated Distance

The four-hour course will be a different course than the 12-hour adventure race yet use the same start/finish location. Estimates for the course are 2-4 miles of paddling, 4-10 miles of trekking, and 5-18 miles of mountain biking.

Soloist

· $110.00 for soloists until registration closes at midnight February 4th, 2024

· $125.00 for soloists until registration closes at midnight March 24th, 2024

Teams (2, 3, or 4 Person Team Options Available)

· $100.00 per team member until registration closes at midnight February 4th, 2024

· $115.00 per team member until registration closes at midnight March 24th, 2024
