June 1, 2024. 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Help preserve the health of our local waterway, the mighty James River! The James is part of the Chesapeake Bay watershed, which we will help clean by removing trash as we paddle along the river. You are welcome to bring your own canoe/kayak or use one of the park's canoes or kayaks.

This is a free program due to the volunteer service we will be providing. Parking will also be free for the day for all registered volunteers.

Registration is required. To register, call (804)598-7148 or email powhatan@dcr.virginia.gov. During registration, let us know whether you need to use a park boat or if you are bringing your own. Shuttle service back to your car is only provided for those using park boats, so plan accordingly.

Participant Expectations:

  - Bring plenty of water, snacks, and sun protection.

  - Plan to get wet. Bring a change of clothes and towel.

 - Wear close-toed shoes. Bring gloves if desired.

 - Children under 6 years are not permitted. Children under 14 years must be accompanied by an adult.
