Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Archery 101

This is your chance to learn the sport of archery under the watchful eye of a certified instructor. We will introduce you to equipment, shooting techniques, range safety, as well as the history of archery. We hold the program at our group practice range near the Visitor Center. We have a marked off area equipped with targets and an arrow backstop. All needed archery equipment is provided, or feel free to bring your own. We have both left-handed and right-handed bows. There is a 8-year-old age limit. Space is limited, so please pre-register at the visitor center or call (434) 374-2210.
