DUFFIELD, Va. – Visitors to Natural Tunnel State Park will be transported back to 1774 this weekend during a special Colonial Experience program. The immersive event will provide insight into the life of early English colonists and the events that united them.

Visitors can stop by the Tea Room to discover how the Boston Tea Party brought the colonies together for the First Continental Congress in September 1774, visit the King's Warehouse full of lumber, tobacco, indigo, whale oil and other exports or head to the Secret Smuggler's Warehouse to find cheap underground imports.

The Colonial Experience also features living history re-enactments and frontier demonstrations, including candle making, salt production and tool crafting. Visitors can also watch as patriot cooks prepare a feast over an open fire for the re-enactors.

This event is free to attend and will be held on Saturday, April 20, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, April 21, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Wilderness Road Blockhouse, Natural Tunnel State Park, 1420 Natural Tunnel Parkway, Duffield.

The Colonial Experience is a joint collaboration between Natural Tunnel State Park, the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail Association and Scott County VA250.
