Position Number: BC027
Bear Creek Lake State Park is seeking applicants to fill the Maintenance Ranger Supervisor position. The incumbent performs the recurring grounds care, maintenance, light construction, and cleaning tasks necessary to operate Virginia State Park facilities. Duties include cleaning bathhouses; mowing grass; raking/removing leaf litter trash and litter removal; cleaning campsites, cabins, the bunkhouse, meeting facilities, linen storage building, and office; and cutting firewood for merchandise sales.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of hand and power tools required. Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Successful candidates will have a combination of experience and/or training in one or more of the following areas: public relations, housekeeping, maintenance of building, grounds and equipment; general knowledge of the use and care of common hand tools and the use of various cleaning supplies/equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with small engine repair, equipment operation, carpentry and building trades.
Special Requirements
Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license. Must be willing to work shift work, weekends, and holidays, including evening shifts. Park provides 2 shirts with patches, a hat and name tag. Employee must provide pants. Employees are limited to working no more than 1500 hours in 12 months from May 1 to April 30. There are no health benefits or paid vacation leave associated with this job. Employment in all positions within the Virginia State Parks is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check including a criminal history record check.
