Hiring Range: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
Lake Anna State Park is seeking qualified applicants to fill the Office Manager Assistant position. The selected individual should be self-motivated and organized to successfully assist park management with administrative functions. This position serves as the first point of contact for in-person and over the phone inquiries and provides office support services and coverage at the park office and contact station.
The Office Manager Assistant will also perform the following duties: prepare deposits; collect appropriate fees; operate a computer and point-of-sale terminal; provide detailed information on park fees, directions, pricing, annual passes, trail information, park educational programs, and local area information; update park fliers and brochures; and assist the office manager with managing the park’s merchandise program. This position requires the ability to reconcile a till and note any discrepancies in a detailed manner. This position will perform clerical duties such as answering telephones; copying, and typing correspondence; preparing reports and correspondence; working with park guests and the public; and assisting with training and supervision of seasonal employees. This position will also be responsible for helping to run the gift shop by selling merchandise and annual passes, keeping merchandise displays and shelving stocked and properly organized, and general cleaning.
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated previous experience in a customer service and/or public relations environment. Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and ability to work in a team environment. Considerable knowledge and skills with a variety of computer-based business applications (such as Microsoft Office software) and office equipment. Experience using a cash register.
Additional Considerations
Experience providing administrative support. Knowledge and/or experience working in a park. Prior knowledge and experience in retail management and cash management procedures.
Special Requirements
Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1500 hours from May 1 to April 30. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays. Must have reliable transportation. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must wear provided uniform in accordance with Virginia State Park’s uniform policy.
A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
