Fall Foliage Report for Virginia State Parks
Welcome to our fall foliage report for 2024.
October 31, 2024
Virginia's state parks are experiencing a mix of fall foliage stages, with some parks at peak color while others are just past their prime. In western parks, the cooler mountain temperatures have already brought vibrant reds and yellows that may now be fading. Meanwhile, central and northern parks are reaching peak colors, and coastal parks aren't quite there yet. This variety in foliage timing offers visitors a unique chance to see the different stages of fall by traveling across Virginia.
Thanks to our commonwealth’s varying elevations from mountains to shore, we have a long fall foliage season, starting earliest in the higher elevations and moving eastward.
This fall season, find new ways to connect with nature and get outdoors for some fresh air. Whatever adventure you decide on, be sure to share your Virginia State Park photos on social media by using the hashtag #VaStateParks and #FallinVirginia to be part of the online conversation.
