In the coastal region, the color change continues at the parks, with nearly all deciduous trees beginning to turn. The trees are deepening into radiant reds and bright yellows, adding to the overall charm of the picturesque park setting. Each visit offers an opportunity to experience the unique tapestry of colors and the crisp, invigorating air that defines autumn in Virginia.

Machicomoco State Park - 10/29/2024
Color change continues at Machicomoco State Park, with nearly all deciduous trees starting to turn or continuing to deepen into bright red with yellow tones starting to develop.
Best place to view: The interpretive area parking and the Interpretive (Oyster) Trail towards the boardwalk and the Loop (Moccasin) Trail and the boat slips.
NOTE: Nov 1: The car-top boat launch closes until Jan. 31, 2025, to protect over-wintering waterfowl. The boardwalk will remain open for wildlife viewing.
