Mill Creek Springs is DCR's 60th dedicated natural area preserve. This property was purchased by Oscar Jennings Blake and his wife Evelyn Lilly Blake in the late 1940's. Mrs. Evelyn Lilly Blake generously donated this property to The Nature Conservancy in 2010. The property receives strong protection by DCR through its dedication to the state natural area preserve system and designation as open-space land.
The 222-acre preserve consists of limestone hills drained by Mill Creek. This preserve supports portions of two natural heritage conservation sites, a globally rare redcedar-chinkapin oak dolomite woodland community, several globally rare invertebrate species and provides water quality protection for Mill Creek.
