Hiring Rate: $13.50 per hour
Powhatan is accepting applications for the Contact Ranger position. The Contact Ranger is responsible for greeting visitors and providing information and directions to park facilities quickly and accurately. Duties include maintaining a positive public appearance of self and immediate area; giving information to customers over phone and/or taking messages for other staff when appropriate; collecting applicable parking fees; operating a cash register; completing daily cash management reports; and adhering to state cash management policies. This position will also be assisting the park office with needed administrative tasks as assigned; assisting with special events in various areas of the park as needed; and maintaining cleanliness of the work area and building to include, dusting, sweeping, mopping, trash removal, and cleaning bathroom.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong customer service skills to deliver the highest quality customer service and provide information to guests. Familiar with how to operate a computer, point of sale system, and make change. Must be able to reconcile the register and perform daily register transactions. Great interpersonal skills to work well with the general public.
Additional Considerations
General knowledge of park operations and local attractions. General knowledge of office and computer operations.
Special Requirements:
Must be willing to work shift work to include weekdays, weekends and holidays. Must have reliable transportation. Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1500 hours from May 1 to April 30.
A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
