Late autumn view of the Whitetop Mountain grassy bald, looking south toward Buzzard Rock, and beyond into North Carolina.  Although enlarged and disturbed by human activities, the bald vegetation was probably present here in some form prior to European settlement. Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, George Washington & Jefferson National Forests.
