Southern Appalachian Mixed Heath Bald – CEGL003814

Shrubs occupy the thinnest soils and rock crevices at The Channels State Natural Area Preserve on Clinch Mountain in Washington County.  The sandstone caprock is also fissured into large crevices 50 ft. deep and large enough to walk around in at the bottom.
