VLCF Funded Projects
Virginia’s working farms and forests, battlefields and other historic sites, natural areas, parks and rivers are critical to its economy, culture and quality of life. In 1999, the assembly and governor established the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation (VLCF) to fund protection of these resources. | Description: |
Grant funds were requested to help Virginia Dept. of Game and Inland Fisheries acquire the 85-acre Aspen Grove property in New Kent County, which controls access to the Ware Creek Preserve that is also being acquired with the help of VLCF funding. The project received a grant award of $62,500 to protect significant nesting, staging, and wintering habitat for migratory birds, and habitat for threatened and endangered species. This project was withdrawn.
