Virginia’s working farms and forests, battlefields and other historic sites, natural areas, parks and rivers are critical to its economy, culture and quality of life. In 1999, the assembly and governor established the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation (VLCF) to fund protection of these resources. The interactive map below depicts VLCF-grant projects funded since 2000.

Description: | The City of Charlottesville received a grant award of $82,600 to assist in the acquisition of a 2.78-acre parcel along Moore's Creek near Jordan Park (1607 Sixth St S.E.). The property represents one of the last undeveloped parcels in this area of the city and had been divided into six buildable lots. Surrounding properties have been developed into subdivisions. Purchase of the property by the City would allow for a key link in the City's developing trail network, including a link to the existing Rivanna Trail, which is a designated National Recreational Trail. This project was withdrawn. |
