Virginia’s working farms and forests, battlefields and other historic sites, natural areas, parks and rivers are critical to its economy, culture and quality of life. In 1999, the assembly and governor established the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation (VLCF) to fund protection of these resources. The interactive map below depicts VLCF-grant projects funded since 2000.

Description: | The City of Chesapeake was awarded a grant of $182,500 for the fee simple acquisition of a .7-acre parcel in the Indian River Watershed. The property will be developed as a public park to meet an urgent need identified by numerous local plans for public open space and water access in the Indian River Watershed. Currently there is no public access in the watershed. Other proposed developments for the new park are facilities for fishing, picnicking and wildlife observation. |
