VLCF Funded Projects
Virginia’s working farms and forests, battlefields and other historic sites, natural areas, parks and rivers are critical to its economy, culture and quality of life. In 1999, the assembly and governor established the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation (VLCF) to fund protection of these resources. The interactive map below depicts VLCF-grant projects funded since 2000.

The 45.56-acre Funk Tract is entirely within the Core Area of the Cedar Creek Battlefield and adjacent to lands already preserved by the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation (SVBF). The property is in Warren County and currently used as a farm, containing open space and 17.5-acres of forested lands along with waterways. The preservation of the site will allow for visitor access to the property via mowed trails and for and current agricultural practices to continue. Its location adjoins 189-acres of conserved land protected by an easement held by the Virginia Board of Historic Resources.
