VLCF Funded Projects
Virginia’s working farms and forests, battlefields and other historic sites, natural areas, parks and rivers are critical to its economy, culture and quality of life. In 1999, the assembly and governor established the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation (VLCF) to fund protection of these resources. The interactive map below depicts VLCF-grant projects funded since 2000.

Description: |
This project will protect 797.8 acres of timber lands and protect connectivity of a rural landscape situated between three Civil War battlefields in Dinwiddie County via conservation easement. The land supports water quality, wildlife habitat, and scenic views from the East Coast Greenway. The landowners have owned this property since 2004 and manage it according to a professional forest management plan. The landowners have turned down a solar company's offer in order to keep stewarding this forestland. The easement holder will be the Virginia Department of Forestry. The project aligns with the locality's comprehensive plan, the Virginia Outdoors Plan, and the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation's efforts to protect the flight path between Ft. Barfoot and Ft. Gregg-Adams.
