Virginia State Parks Adventure Series

Presented by

Presented by Dominion Energy
Welcome to the most innovative race series in Virginia sports, the Virginia State Parks Adventure Series! This one-of-a-kind race series features a wide-ranging selection of competitive events held in Virginia State Parks. Events include adventure races, running events, mountain bike races, cyclocross races, adventure triathlons, sprint triathlons, a one-of-a-kind gravel time trial, and an old-school mountain bike enduro race. Participants can win great prizes in one of two ways: amassing points in the Competition Category or simply participating in the Achievement Category.
We’ve made big changes and improvements to the Series for 2025 to make it more accessible to a wider audience.
- Racers will now be scored on their best of 6 races, down from 8 last year.
- We've reduced the number of races from 25 to 20, shortening the season by 6 weeks.
- There will be no bonus races this year, all races will once again be worth 100 points maximum. Anyone who finishes outside of the top 100 will receive one point for completing the race.
- We've chosen a wider mix of race difficulties and lengths this year. There are still plenty of hardcore events in the Series, but we have chosen some shorter, sprint length races at a few more events this year.
- We've changed the Competition Prize Categories to:
- Overall Female 1st – 3rd (Prize values $1,335, $985, $785)
- Overall Male 1st – 3rd (Prize values $1,335, $985, $785)
- Overall 7th – 10th based on points regardless of gender ($200 value)
The Competition Category is scored on your top 6 race point levels. Only one race per event will be scored for points. Please make sure you register for the designated races to be scored in the Competition Category.
Achievement Category: Participants who finish lower than the top 10 in the Competition Category, and have completed a minimum of 6 races, will receive an $85 (price of a Virginia State Parks annual pass) gift certificate.
All categories on a series events race day will be counted toward your race total, not just the designated scored race.
Awards and Prizes can be found in the Achievement Awards and Competition Awards links below.
PLEASE THOROUGHLY READ THE GUIDELINES AND RULES FOR MORE DETAILS!
If you haven’t participated in the Series, be prepared to make new friends and good-natured competitors. We wish everyone the best of luck in 2025!
