This year is the 86th anniversary of the Virginia State Park system. It is also the 82nd anniversary of the opening of Bear Creek Lake, but the land that holds each Virginia State Park has its own story. There is a separate sense of place in each, and this park is no exception. The environmental history of this place will be told at the presentation "Sense and Insensibility" that will highlight the people and actions that have eventually brought us all here together today.
