Virginia State Parks History and Culture Day

Location of Staunton River Battlefield State Park in Virginia

Where

Staunton River Battlefield State Park, 1035 Fort Hill Trail, Randolph, VA 23962.
Mulberry Hill

When

June 19, 2022. 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Join us at Mulberry Hill Plantation for a guided tour of the historic home of Judge Paul Carrington as we explore the lesser known aspects left behind from the antebellum operation and the legacy of the enslaved individuals that made the plantation function. A historian will facilitate the discussion as the tour is led through the home and out to the dependencies surrounding the property. There will be an emphasis on those enslaved, their lives, and a dive into what exactly "Juneteenth" meant for them.

Our tour will begin promptly at 2 p.m. and will last approximately one hour in length. We ask that guests come prepared to navigate uneven ground and stairs during this program. Facilities will be available and parking will be a short walk from the starting point.

Please call the park visitor center at (434) 454-4312 for more information.
