Calling all Girls Scouts to Leesylvania State Park for Girl Scouts love State Parks Weekend! Join rangers for a a weekend of fun, educational experiences at the park.
Saturday, September 10
9 am: Pollinator Planting @ Visitor Center
Join ranger as we establish an new pollinator garden in the park and learn the important role that pollinators play in our daily life. After the planting, hike a pollinator trail to see butterflies, bees, humming birds and more pollinators at work.
6 pm - Owl Prowl Campfire @ Lee's Woods Trail Amphitheater
We will share the night at the amphitheater, with our nocturnal birds of prey, where we will learn about their unique adaptation and the environmental challenges that they face. Lastly we will hike up to Freestone Point where we will watch the sunset as we try to get in contact with screech owls and barred owls.
Sunday, September 11
9 am: Nature Art @ Visitor Center
Stop by the Visitor Center to create art by using nature as your muse. Rangers will escort scouts on a short hike to gain inspiration and to collect materials to create art with. After the hike the group will return to the visitor Center to create their masterpieces.
We ask that all scouts and troops call or email the visitor center to register for the events for the weekend. Space is limited. Park reaches capacity on weekends in the morning, so please arrive 30 to 15 minutes early for the morning events.
