When

June 17, 2023. 7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

In celebration of Virginia State Parks History and Culture Day, we will uncover the stories of those at rest in the historic cemetery, and honor the families who lived on the land where the park now sits.

As the sun sinks low in the sky, we will walk by the old farm fields where people once lived and worked to the place where many are buried. Tucked away in a shady grove of forest surrounded by those fields, a few graves represent the lives of loved ones long since passed. One headstone in particular will be the focus of our contemplation...Who was Alpheus Hudson? What was his life like? Who was his wife? By weaving together historical records, photographs, and our own imagination, we will uncover some of his untold story. What do we know, and what may forever remain a mystery?

The walk will be at an easy pace and will last up to an hour.
