Visitor Center
When
April 6, 2024. 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Shark Tooth Island, located 5 miles from Westmoreland State Park, is slowly disappearing. Research Assistant, Kate Stoneman, from the University of Mary Washington will be on site from 10 am - 12 pm to answer questions and discuss the impact humans have had on the island, and what factors are causing the local hangout to "wash away".
Join us for the Fossil Hike at 9 am for an introduction to the Potomac's history, and the factors affecting Westmoreland's shoreline for a deeper insight.
