In this special collaborative event, a park ranger will be your guide along with members of The Feminist Bird Club (FBC) of Richmond. We will walk together alongside meadow and forest to find out who is out and about! Summer brings in many far-flung visitors all the way from the tropics of Central and South America. Candy-colored birds are filling up on juicy insects as they raise their young. Our winter migrants are away in their northern summer homes, while the Virginia's year-round residents are here feeding hungry teenagers.

We recommend bringing water and binoculars if you have them. If not, the park has a few pairs to lend out. The walk will be up to one mile at a slow pace on mostly flat terrain. The trail can be muddy at times, so please dress accordingly.

The Feminist Bird Club is dedicated to making birding accessible and inclusive to all people interested in learn more about birds and their habitat. FBC educates on the basics of birding and the importance of outdoor inclusivity to all people, regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status or physical abilities. FBC hosts regular birding meet-ups that offer a safe space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC, and women to connect with the natural world.
