Aug. 2, 2024. 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Put yourself into the shoes of an Ice Age hunter in this spear-throwing workshop. Long ago, giant beasts roamed the land that we now call Virginia. For thousands of years, hunters hurled spears to bring down massive megafauna. The atlatl was a ground-breaking invention that not only enabled hunters to throw spears faster and harder but made hunting more accessible for women. Join us to try your hand at spear-throwing and experience the power of the atlatl!

Registration is $3 per person. Call 804-598-7148 or visit the park office from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily. This activity is best suited for participants ages 10 and up. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water.
