When

July 20, 2024. 2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Did you know that we have a American Civil War fort here at Staunton River Battlefield? Some of it was built before the June 1864 battle, but most of what you see today was built after. This program will take a dive into the different defenses used and touch on when the opposing armies used them. A park ranger will show these different techniques using a sand table and demonstrate the tactics needed to attack and defend them with military figures. This will be a fantastic opportunity to visualize the fighting using fortifications during the war.

This program is FREE, family-friendly, and held rain or shine. For more information, please call the Clover Center at (434) 454-4312.
