Position Number: WW008
The Maintenance Ranger position performs general grounds care such as mowing, string trimming, litter clean up and brush clearing; regular facility maintenance, such as light construction, and cleaning; trail maintenance and construction; and any other park related duties as assigned.
Requirements: Must be 18 years old, have a driver’s license, and reliable transportation to and from work. Must have a general knowledge of basic care and use of hand tools, power tools, and cleaning supplies, and be able to perform routine maintenance tasks, and be able to lift a bag of concrete (80 pounds). Employees must be able to take direction from others, and capable of working unsupervised. Must be able to interact with park guests, and give them reliable information about the park, and it’s rules. Must be able to work various shifts, including, weekends, holidays, and night shifts.
Employment in all positions within the Virginia State Parks is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check. A background check is required to include a criminal history record check.
