DCR is looking for talented people to fill positions listed below. Unless stated otherwise, you must complete and submit an electronic state application by the job announcement's close date.
Generally applications must be made through the RMS (electronic state application). We will, however, accept paper applications (Word) for some state park slots. Be sure to refer to the individual recruitment for specific requirements.
Certain positions require a criminal background check, a conflict of interest financial statement or both. Law-enforcement positions require a fingerprint-based FBI investigation. DCR is an EEO/AA/ADA Employer.

Hourly Rate: 13.00 per hour
James River State Park is seeking applications for the Housekeeping Ranger position. The primary focus of this position includes proper and prompt cleaning of cabins, restrooms, campground bathhouses and other park structures, efficient turnover of overnight facilities before check-in time, and the ability to work independently. This position will be responsible for inventorying cabin supplies to ensure they are available for the next guest. The Housekeeping Ranger performs light maintenance and cleaning tasks necessary to operate state park facilities.

For all positions, experience is not required, but is preferred. We provide on the job training. Weekends and holiday work required. Employees may be required to perform other park related duties during emergencies, or on a non-recurring basis. Seasonal summer jobs can be an outstanding first step toward a lasting career with the park service.
There are no health benefits or paid vacation leave associated with the job. Employees are limited to working no more than 1500 hours in 12 months from May 1 to April 30.
A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
Selected candidate(s) will need to complete the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form. DCR participates in E-Verify.
