Generally applications must be made through the RMS (electronic state application). We will, however, accept paper applications for some state park slots. Be sure to refer to the individual recruitment for specific requirements.

Hiring Range: $15.75-$17.00 per hour
Widewater State Park is accepting applications for the Interpretive Ranger position. This position provides meaningful educational opportunities and experiences for park guests by interpreting the significance of the parks’ natural, historical, and cultural resources. They will develop, schedule, and conduct interpretive and educational outreach programs, including direct correspondence with the general public, schools, scout groups, and home school organizations. Archery and water-based programs are also a required part of this position’s obligations.
The Interpretive Ranger will also be responsible for supervising other interpretive ranger(s) and volunteers; writing blog posts and sharing photos on Flickr; maintaining interpretive displays and supplies; as well as the daily care/health of the animal ambassadors in the Visitor Center, which includes snakes and turtles. Other duties include keeping accurate records for visitation and programs; operating the gift shop cash register; participating in both indoor and outdoor facility cleanliness and maintenance; and other duties as assigned during emergencies or on a non-recurring basis.
We provide on-the-job training and professional development workshops. Archery instructor certification, paddle guide certification, and facilitator certification in curriculum guides are required trainings provided by the park upon hire.

Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1500 hours from May 1 to April 30. Must be able to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed. Employees may be required to perform other park-related duties during emergencies or on a non-recurring basis.
A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
