Generally applications must be made through the RMS (electronic state application). We will, however, accept paper applications for some state park slots. Be sure to refer to the individual recruitment for specific requirements.

Hiring rate: $14.00 per hour
Job Duties:
Provide information regarding state park services and other local attractions to park guests. Primarily provides coverage at the parks contact station, and park office, if necessary. Collects appropriate fees, registers overnight and day-use rentals. Required to operate a computer, point-of-sale system, multi-line phone system and handheld radio. Provides accurate and detailed information on the park fees, directions, pricing, annual passes, trail information, park interpretive programs, and local area information. Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones, copying, various projects, and other duties as assigned. Ensure the work area is well stocked and maintained on a daily basis. Maintain accurate and neat filing and storage. Performs daily cleaning of contact station/office area.

Employment in all positions within the Virginia State Parks is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a background check including a criminal history record check.
Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for Commonwealth of Virginia benefits (health care, paid leave, etc.) and are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30.
