THE DIVISION
The Division of Virginia State Parks fulfills its mission “to conserve the natural, scenic, historic and cultural resources of the Commonwealth and provide recreational and educational opportunities consistent with the good stewardship of these lands, waters and facilities that leaves them unimpaired for future generations” by operating a system of 43 state parks that encompass over 75,000 acres; over 1200 buildings, almost 1700 campsites; over 300 cabins; over 700 miles of trails; nearly 500 miles of shoreline; 36 lakes and ponds; 11 swimming beaches; 4 international dark sky sites, and offers over 20,000 educational programs and workshops each year.
Managed by a full-time staff of 275 and a wage staff of 1000+ during the prime season, Virginia’s award-winning state park system boasts an incredible and diverse array of natural, cultural, historical, and recreational resources including parks in the mountains, on the ocean, on the Chesapeake Bay, on 8 major rivers, on 4 major lakes, 4 rail trails, 3 battlefield sites, and 32 sites listed on the National Historic Registry. THE OPPORTUNITY
The Revenue Manager is vital to the success, prosperity, and efforts of The Department of Conservation and Recreation - Division of State Parks to support recreation and conservation initiatives across the Commonwealth. This position will execute and oversee all revenue generating programs, revenue operations, and administrative projects related to division revenue.
Specifically, this role will optimize revenue generation by providing insight to the division’s revenue streams providing management of; revenue data, revenue reporting, profit monitoring, market trends, and deliver long-term strategic vision to cultivate, enhance, and evolve State Park’s revenue for all programs and operations. This vision will be supported by the incumbent’s delivery of analysis in market trends, strategy development, data management, trend forecasting, and profit generation.
Virginia State Parks are dependent upon self-generated revenue for approximately half of their operational budget. As such, the Revenue Manager plays a pivotal role in accomplishing our mission. This position reports to the Chief of Business Revenue and Administration and will be responsible for the management of some employees within the section. The incumbent will be a part of a synchronized team that helps the division navigate business and administrative fluctuations effectively by devising operational management strategies, analyzing performance metrics, and formulating strategies.
With supervisory agreement, the selected incumbent will be able to work out of any Virginia State Park location. The incumbent will need to report to DCR's Main Street Center location in Richmond, VA several times a month.
