Hiring Range: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Pocahontas State Park is seeking a dependable and motivated individual who is comfortable working independently to fill the Maintenance Ranger Supervisor/Trail Crew Member position. This individual performs the recurring grounds care, maintenance, and light construction necessary to maintain Virginia State Park hiking, biking, equestrian trails, and fire roads. Duties include mowing grass, weed eating, trail construction and rehabilitation, sawyer work, light carpentry, heavy equipment operation, and pesticide application. This position will assist with volunteer projects which involve trail work. As the Maintenance Ranger Supervisor/Trail Crew Member, you will be required to work varying shifts and multiple weekends per month. This position is also expected to work primarily outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Special Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old. Must be willing to work weekends, day and evening shifts, and holidays, with the majority of shifts being on the weekend. This position is limited to working no more than 1500 hours in 12 months from May 1 to April 30. Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Position requires the ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
The individual chosen for this position must wear uniform consistent with park standards. A uniform shirt and hat will be provided.
Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1500 hours from May 1 to April 30.
A valid State Driver's License is required to operate a state vehicle or if operating a personal vehicle while conducting business on behalf of the agency.
Selected candidate(s) will need to complete the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form. DCR participates in E-Verify.
