The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is hiring! Join us in preserving what people care about most – access to the outdoors, natural habitats, open spaces, clean water, and safe infrastructure.
The VA State Park Sign Shop is accepting applications for a Finishing Specialist position. The Sign Shop is located at Pocahontas State Park in Chesterfield, Virginia.
Job Summary:
This position will assist with producing and delivering products to our customers. The Sign Shop produces over 20,000 pieces a year, ranging from park signage, banners, stickers, name tags, vehicle decals, and more. These products are vital in helping park visitors experience our state parks in fun, safe, and educational ways.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Will process print orders from work order forms
- Apply plotted vinyl to various substrates according to the media type and application method for end user products
- Wrap packages for safe UPS shipment, and other assigned tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience in vinyl application including preparing substrates, cutting, application using a variety of methods, pre-masking, vinyl lamination, and other tasks
- Experience with finishing operations such as laminating and/or mounting of printed pieces
- Experience with vehicle decal removal/application
- Experience performing quality assurance measures pre- and post-production
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be able to work in a print shop environment, stand on feet for extended hours, lift 40 pounds on a regular basis and 75 pounds intermittently, and utilize cutting tools.
Additional Considerations:
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud Programs
- Experience with Large Format Printer/Plotter/Laminator Equipment, Laser Engravers
- Experience prioritizing Work Order Logistics in relation to supplies, deadlines, and deliveries
Special Instructions:
- Background Check: Employment in all Virginia State Parks positions is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check.
- Employment Eligibility: Selected candidates must complete the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form. DCR participates in E-Verify.
- Driver’s License Requirement: A valid State Driver's License is required if operating a state or personal vehicle for agency business.
- Work Requirements: Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30.
