Grant Funding Available for Parks and Recreation
RICHMOND - Parks and recreation grants ranging from $50,000 to $200,000 are now available to towns, cities, counties, regional park authorities and state agencies. The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, in partnership with the National Park Service, has approximately $1 million to award through the Land and Water Conservation Fund. The deadline for preliminary applications is March 19, 2012, at 4 p.m.
This federal grant program was established to acquire and develop public outdoor recreation areas. Areas funded through the grant program must be open and maintained in perpetuity as public outdoor recreation areas.
The LWCF program is a matching reimbursement program. The sponsoring agency must be capable of financing the project in its entirety while requesting periodic reimbursement.
