Grayson Highlands State Park master plan to be discussed July 13
RICHMOND, Va. — A public meeting to discuss the long-range plan for Grayson Highlands State Park will be July 13, 6 p.m., at the park’s visitor center, 829 Grayson Highland Lane, Mouth of Wilson.
Staff with the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation will provide an overview of proposed updates to the park’s master plan.
Each state park has a master plan that guides development. Plans are updated every 10 years.
“Master plans outline the desired future condition for a park when it is fully developed,” said DCR Park Planner Bill Conkle. “We welcome public input in the planning process.”
The draft master plan for Grayson Highlands proposes a redesign and expansion of the park office, campground upgrades, additional picnic facilities and a comfort station, and additional parking at Massie Gap.
The 4,502-acre park is in the Mount Rogers Planning District in western Grayson County.
Comments about this master plan update will be accepted through Aug. 13. Written comments should be submitted to bill.conkle@dcr.virginia.gov.
