Seven Bends State Park master plan to be discussed Aug. 30
RICHMOND — A public meeting to discuss long-range planning for Seven Bends State Park will be held Aug. 30, 5:30 p.m., at the Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors Meeting Room, 600 N. Main St., Woodstock, Virginia, 22664.
Staff with the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation will provide an overview of proposed updates to the park’s master plan.
Each state park has a master plan that guides development. Plans are updated every 10 years.
“Master plans outline how a park will look when it’s fully built,” said DCR Park Planner Bill Conkle. “We welcome public input in the planning process.”
The draft master plan for Seven Bends State Park proposes construction of a contact station and office, a welcome center with meeting rooms, staff residences, yurts, group and primitive camping, boat access and fishing nodes, parking, picnicking and trail improvements.
The 1,066-acre park is on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River in Shenandoah County.
Written comments about this master plan update will be accepted through Sept. 30. They should be submitted to lynn.crump@dcr.virginia.gov.
