RICHMOND — The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation will hold a virtual public meeting Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the master plan for Seven Bends State Park located in Woodstock, Va.. The meeting will be online, and participants will need to register to attend.
To register, visit: www.dcr.virginia.gov/masterplan.
DCR staff will provide an overview of the park’s proposed phased development plan. Plans are updated every 10 years.
The update of the Seven Bends State Park master plan began in 2017. In 2018 the public input meeting identified concerns for additional development in the park without suitable road access, due to the low water bridges required to access the site. The updated plan will include a reduced amount of land slated for development in the park.
Seven Bends State Park, the gateway to the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, provides water and land based outdoor recreational and educational opportunities while protecting and interpreting the spectacular scenic viewshed and the unique geological, natural and historical resources of the storied seven bends area of the North Fork of the Shenandoah River in Virginia.
Supporting the recreational needs of the community requires the community’s input. Attendees will have the opportunity to give feedback during a portion of the meeting. Written feedback will also be accepted through Jan. 15, 2022.
