When
Feb. 27, 2022. 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Take a 4 hour guided tour through Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and False Cape State Park! Join Park and Refuge staff for a scenic ride through Back Bay National Wildlife to observe wintering waterfowl such as Tundra Swans, as well as numerous duck species. Then, continue to the heart of False Cape for a one-mile (round trip) guided hike to the remnants of the Wash Woods cemetery and church site. Alternatively, participants can be dropped off at False Cape Visitor Center to explore on their own while the rest of the group rides further south and takes part in the hike to Wash Woods. Participants who choose this option will be picked up at the end of the tour. Please note, the tram does not transport campers.
From November through March, the tram tour runs on a limited basis so as to limit disturbances to wintering waterfowl in Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. Reservations are required. Make reservations by calling the park at (757) 426-7128 during Visitor Center hours (9 am to 4 pm).
To protect the safety of participants and staff: 1) Participant numbers may be limited based on current COVID guidelines. 2) Participants MUST wear a face covering on the tram. 3) Participants must pre-pay for the tour. 4) Participants cannot attend the tour if they have any of the following symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell.
