Make the most of the shortest day of the year and ring in the winter season with a series of ranger led hikes.

Plan to hike one or all to hear more about the upcoming seasonal changes you'll see around the park and traditions of the solstice. . Please dress for the weather. Trails are somewhat stroller friendly-assistance maybe be needed on some portions. Child carriers are recommended. Well behaved pets on a 6-ft leash are welcome. All trails are hard-packed gravel/earth.

Sunrise 7:20 a.m. to Sunset 4:54p.m.

Hike #1: 7:30 to 9 a.m. Beaver Lake Trail 2.5 miles. Meet at Visitor Center

Hike #2: 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Ground Pine Path. 1 mile. Meet at Visitor Center

Hike #3: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Powhatan Trail Loop 1 mile. Meet at Playground by Pool

Hike #4: 1:45 to 3 p.m. Co-Op Trail. 2.8 miles. Meet at Boat Launch

Hike #5: 3:30 to 5 p.m. Big Poplar and Beaver Lake trails. 1.5 miles. Meet at Visitor Center
