Registration is now open for Shenandoah River State Park's 2022 Junior Ranger Day Camp (ages 6-12). This day camp will take place over 4 days from 9 a.m. to noon each day. There will be two separate sessions on back-to-back weeks. Session 1 takes place July 11-14 (Monday - Thursday). Session 2 takes place July 18-21 (Monday - Thursday). The theme for this year's camp is "Developing Outdoorsmanship Skills." Over the course of four days the Junior Rangers will learn things like planning for camping, how to safely make and break down a campfire, identifying organisms in nature, interpreting animal remains, conservation fundamentals, and basic first aid. They will also have the opportunity to participate in fun recreational activities like hiking, fishing, tubing and swimming, and catching macroinvertebrates in the river.

Parents can expect to drop off and pick up in the same location every day. Picnic Shelter 1 down in our picnic area by the river will be the meeting place. The camp begins at 9 a.m. and ends at noon each day. The cost for reservation is $10 per Junior Ranger. Space is limited, so make your reservations early. To reserve a spot or for more information, call our Visitor Center.
