Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m., beginning Feb. 15 through April 30, per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Where's the best place to fish? Join the rangers for a short discussion of fishing techniques and of the fish commonly found in our lake. This event is for beginners as well as accomplished fisherman. A practice casting area is provided as well as equipment and bait. Feel free to bring your own equipment if you wish. Let's plan on a great day in the park. A valid Virginia fishing license is required for those 16 years old or older and may be purchased in the Park Office, Gift Shop, or online.
