June 4, 2022. 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Saturday, June 4, 2022 is National Trails Day. What better way to celebrate this day than by opening a brand new mountain biking trail at Pocahontas State Park. A generous donation by Jerry Guyant to the Friends of Pocahontas State Park matched a grassroots Go Fund Me campaign that served as the catalyst for the new Loop Forest parking lot, and this new trail, the "JT" Trail.
The "JT" trail is a 4.3 mile cross country trail suitable for all skill levels, including hand cycling. This trail was built by an all-volunteer work force that involved hundreds of volunteers and hundreds of volunteer hours over a two year time period. Come celebrate the opening of this awesome new addition to the mountain biking system. The ribbon cutting will occur at the official start of the "JT" Trail, which is 1/4 mile in from the Hawkins Forest gate.
Parking: Main parking is in lot by aquatic complex. Limited parking at Hawkins Forest fire road and Taylor lot (across from the Orange Market on Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA).
