Celebrate the New Year outside with a step in the right direction. This is a FREE statewide parking day for all Virginia State Parks. Free First Day Hike bumper stickers will be available at the Contact Station and at the Gift Shop from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

-10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Nature Display and Craft Tables: Visit a ranger at the Meeting Facility. 

-10 a.m. Early Bird Hike: Join Master Naturalists on a short hike in search of different bird species. Meet at the Howe House. 

-Noon Sappy Sunday: Learn how to make maple syrup at home. We'll take a short stroll to ID different maple trees, and briefly cover how you can make and enjoy syrup from your own backyard. Meet in the field in front of the Howe House.  

-2 p.m. Vernal Pool Hike: Master Naturalists will lead the short hike to our semi-permanent wetland areas. Meet at the overflow parking lot between Campgrounds B and C.

5-9 p.m. Gazebo Holiday Lights: Take a walk down to the Gazebo behind the Howe House or park at the Marina parking lot and enjoy from across the cove. The lights are donated by the Claytor Lake State Park Ambassadors.
